Practical AI: FREE Meetup and Design JAM

Join us on Saturday 10th August, 2019 for a half-day session of Expert Talks and a Design Jam on the subject of Practical AI! Organized by Makespace and Open Source Creativity (www.bangaloremakespace.org) and PalPx (https://www.palpx.com/) we are in the process of building a COMMUNITY COLLECTIVE on ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, which will cover a vast array of topics and experiments to be shared by and with the overall community. For this meetup, we have curated three special talks on how one can practically implement Artificial Intelligence in various forms and contexts -- from applying DIY AI and ML recipes on single board computer platforms, to understanding how AI and ML play a larger role in popular culture to understanding how Natural Language Processing (NLP) is implemented in AI/ML. Very soon we will be announcing a hands-on workshop on Practical AI, and this meetup is intended to set the stage for that event, as well as numerous others.

2:00pm - 2:15pm: Welcome, Introductions, AI Hardware Demos 2:15pm - 2:45pm: Getting started with Practical AI --> What does "practical AI" even mean? --> How to "do AI" even if you are a total beginner --> Coverage of AI/ML use cases on DIY Hardware Platforms (Nvidia Jetson, Raspberry Pi, and others) and live demos of practical AI/ML applications --> How to Build Your Own Autonomous (model) Car 2:45pm - 3:15pm: AI in Popular Culture --> How is AI impacting society: Ethics, Social, Environmental Challenges --> Women in AI: How women will shape the future of AI worldwide --> AI in Creative Industries: Generative Music, Art and Gaming --> Common platforms, languages and technologies used in implementing AI in above scenarios 3:15pm - 4:30pm: DESIGN JAM --> Participants get into groups of 3-4 members each and brainstorm on how AI/ML can be practically implemented for a particular set of problem statements (problem statements to be announced at the beginning of the meetup) 4:30pm - 4:45pm: Participant Presentations/Jam Feedback 4:45pm - 5:15pm: Expert Talk on NLP Trends in AI and ML 5:15pm - 5:30pm: Networking and Snacks; Continuation of Hardware Demos
