Tinkering is a serious endeavor! Not only does it have the power to transform ideas into reality, it interweaves disciplines so as to lead complex projects and individualize learning opportunities. Join us this coming Sat 9th Feb - Sun 10th Feb, 2019 for a one-and-a-half day TINKERING MICRO-FEST where you will sample different forms of Hardware/Software/Material learning and get started your own journey of invention!

DAY 1: Saturday 9th February 2019 14:00 - 14:30: Welcome, Introductions, What is Tinkering? 14:30 - 16:30: ELECTRONICS, IoT AND HARDWARE TRACK --> Getting Started with the Arduino Microcontroller --> Electronic Prototyping Micro-Masterclass! --> Differences between Arduino and Raspberry Pi --> Practical Exercises with Embedded Systems and Hardware 16:30 - 16:45: Tea Break 16:45 - 18:00: DESIGN YOUR OWN HARDWARE PROTOTYPE --> Mentors will be on hand to help you construct and build your own IoT, Embedded Device or Physical Computing prototypes --> Demos/Talks of Hardware/Embedded/IoT and Robotics projects completed by Makespace Community Members

DAY 2: Sunday 10th February 2019 11:00 - 11:30: Recap of Embedded Hardware/IoT Prototyping 11:30 - 13:00: SOFTWARE, AI and DATA TRACK --> Introduction to CREATIVE CODING with Processing and p5.js --> Getting started with Artificial Intelligence --> Case Studies of how AI, Data Science and Software Engineering can be learned by beginners and coding enthusiasts --> Demo/Talks of Data Design projects and inventions 13:00 - 13:45: Short Lunch Break 13:45 - 15:45: CODE YOUR FIRST SOFTWARE PROJECT --> Mentors will be on hand to help you program a software project keeping in mind your skill level and preference of project 15:45 - 18:00: MATERIALS and FABRICATION TRACK --> Understanding the basics of 3D Printing and Digital Fabrication --> Demonstration of how to build your own CNC-based Furniture! --> Overviews of SEWING, SCULPTURE, MOULDING and CASTING, along with information about WORKING WITH TOOLS --> Special Talk/Demo on COSPLAY COSTUME DESIGN --> Using a combination of DIY techniques, learn how to combine your electronics prototyping skills with 3D Printing and hand-fabricated design projects

--> Please ensure to bring your laptops + chargers for the entire duration of this event! Any PC, Mac, Linux machine is fine --> Anybody above the age of 10 yrs old is eligible to participate in this event! The workshop is open to people of ALL BACKGROUNDS! No need to be technical nor have prior knowledge of Electronics/Coding, etc. We will guide you and teach you how to create prototypes from scratch! --> This "Tinkering Micro-Fest" is a combination of theory and hands-on practice based sessions, where participants are expected to take their own initiative when trying out the various exercises planned during the event. --> Only guidance and suggestions will be given, not spoon-feeding of explicit instructions nor professional consultation on how to manufacture end products!
