Product Description

Heard of Quantum Computers, but never understood how to get started in this cryptic and mysterious domain? Join our workshop this coming weekend to get an interactive, hands-on, opportunity to understand the basics.

WHAT: Intro Hands-on Workshop on Quantum Computing WHEN: Saturday 22nd December, 2018 TIME: 11AM - 4PM WHERE: Thought Factory (Axis Bank Innovation Space), 2nd Floor, Tower D, Diamond District, Domlur (https://goo.gl/maps/dc2uERnZqEE2) COST: INR 150 (if booked in advance online); INR 300 spot registration at venue REGISTER right here via Instamojo! Note: PLEASE BRING A LAPTOP WITH YOU!

Quantum computing promises to solve unimaginably large and complex computer problems that classical computing could never crack. In this 1-day workshop we will cover the following topics: + Introduction to Quantum Computing: What is it, What can we do with Quantum Computers and where are we headed. + Limits of Classical Computing: Financial and Technical insights to the limitations we are hitting with current computers. + Players: who is who in quantum computing, what is what in quantum computers and what are the business cases for quantum computers. + Tools of the trade: introducing Avalon and Rigetti Forest. --> Demonstration: implementing the classical and the quantum algorithms for Deutsch’s problem and witness what a quantum computer can do that a classical quantum can’t.

AGENDA:

1) Current challenges in classical computing. 2) State of play: current state of quantum computing and predictions. 3) Introduction to quantum computing: bits vs qubits, boolean gates vs quantum gates, measurements, power and limitations of quantum computers. 4) Deutsch’s problem: how a quantum algorithm can do better than a classical algorithm. 5) Conclusion: resources, communities and people in quantum computing.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

++ Software developers: if you are looking to participate and take advantage of the next computing revolution, this meetup is for you. ++ Entrepreneurs: explore new opportunities to bring value to your customers who are seeking innovative solutions to the complex problems they are struggling with. ++ Companies/Businesses: learn when, where and why investing early in quantum computing will give your business an edge. ++ Students: discover new techniques that will make you indispensable to the scientific and business communities in the remainder of this century.

WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND?

+The field is evolving fast and much attention is going to the hardware progress being made in quantum computing while much attention is given to the software side. +This may give the impression that it is too early to get involved but that would be a mistake. We can already start programming quantum computers and they need software developers to instruct them what to do. + As with classical computers, quantum computers become useful only when we can program them to solve useful problems and this meetup will expose you to the same. + You will gain an understanding of the field that will allow you to position yourself where you can contribute to and extract value from quantum computing, learn where we stand and the field is headed and more important get a leg to stand on when you decide to dive in.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

--> This workshop and meetup is open to anyone of any age group, and any skill level, but please keep in mind that we expect participants to have a general interest in Quantum Computing and are serious about learning how to implement methods and techniques in Quantum Computing going forwards --> If you register via this instamojo URL online, the price per person is only INR 150. Anyone showing up on the day of the event will be charged INR 300 to be paid in cash, no exceptions! --> You MUST bring a laptop with you. Preferably a LINUX MACHINE, but Windows or Mac is fine too --> We will not be delving into the details of Mathematics or Physics due to time limitations. --> Any questions? Please contact Kavita Arora via kklindor21@gmail.com
